Muscles, Muscles, and Mo Muscles

Did I ever tell you that at the age of 30, your body automatically starts losing muscle mass unless you're doing something to prevent it? That explains why so many women come to me and say, "I used to be able to eat liberally and still look fine, and then I turned 30 and my metabolism changed." Ah-hah. I wonder why.

Did you realize that your muscle has that much of an affect on your metabolism? Yup. It has everything to do with it. EVERYTHING. The more muscle you have, the more fat you'll burn, and the greater your Resting or Basal Metabolic Rate will be. That's the number of calories your body burns naturally. We love that number don't we. Yes we do. So let's take care of it by working our muscles!

Those who lose weight by eating right alone, are more likely to gain that weight back once they start eating normal again, opposed to someone who has a strength training program. Sound familiar? Maybe it's happened to you. It sounds like you need to hit some weights three times a week. I have some tips and a little bit of structure in the other strength posts to give you a basic idea.

Just thought I'd remind you of the necessity of strength training :)
