Journal Writing

There have been studies that those who write down what they eat end up keeping their weight off longer than those who don't write in journals. There's always an article in some health magazine that's talking about the benefits of it.

But who actually likes to write down what they eat? I know, it's not always the easiest. But I saw a good idea that Carrie Underwood does. She has a cute little journal, and gives herself a sticker everytime she has a good day. That might sound cheesy, but maybe it'll add a little bit of motivation to give yourself a pat on the back.
So if you don't like to write in a journal, just try it when you feel your eating is getting a little out of control to get yourself back on track because it helps you realize how much you're putting into your mouth.
When you write in a journal, make sure you note:
  • The time you ate

  • What you ate

  • How much you ate

  • Where you ate

  • What kind of mood you were in (happy, sad, entertaining yourself, lonely, worried...)

  • The thought you had before you ate (if it's unhealthy or out of the ordinary)

All these things can help you find a pattern and maybe you can stop the bad pattern or habit you've created in eating unhealthy food.
