What Should I Be Eating on a Typical Day?

This week we're going to focus on nutrition and what we should be eating everyday! Today I will give you general guidelines, and the rest of the week can be things to work on. As far as work outs go, I'm sure there were a few cracks in the last two weeks which you didn't workout a few. So pick those for the next week. But it'll be important that we're eating right or else we won't see any results!

I'm going to lay out a meal plan. There might be certain things you don't have in your kitchen or don't like. But I will say what a lean protein is and what a complex carb is, so you can always replace one of those if you don't like it. Just make sure you replace a protein for a protein and a carb for a carb.

Recap: Complex carbs: Starches such as whole wheat breads and pastas, potatoes, fruits and vegetables. No while flour, these are to be complex, not simple carbs.

Lean Protein: Peanut butter, lean meats such as chicken, lean ground beef, turkey, egg whites, cottage cheese, light string cheese, unsalted nuts.

Breakfast: CC: Oatmeal CC: Fruit LP: Boiled egg
OR
CC: English Muffin LP: Peanut Butter (2 tbs)

Snack: CC: Fruit LP: Cottage Cheese/Plain Yogurt/or Light String Cheese

Lunch: CC: Whole Wheat Bread LP: Meat (turkey, tuna, chicken) CC: other toppings and vegetables on sandwich.

Snack: CC: Kashi granola bar LP: Peanut Butter (2 tbs) on the bar

Dinner: CC: Pasta LP: Chicken CC: Vegetables (This meal can include spaghetti sauce and some cheese)
OR
CC: Broccoli CC: Rice or 1/2 Sweet Potatoe LP: BBQ Chicken

We should be eating three main meals, with a snack in between. They should be spread apart about 3-4 hours. This way we keep our metabolism sped up instead of having long hours in between meals which slows down our metabolism because it wants to store the fat in the food we eat since it thinks we won't get another meal for a while. If we're eating every 3 hours, then our body will burn the fat naturally when we eat the food because it wants to conserve energy. I love this about our bodies! :)
