Be Aware of Your Thoughts

Well Boot Camp is over, how do you feel?! Hopefully you got the most of it, and if not, you can always go back to those posts and continue working out.

What I want to focus on this week is nutrition. But not only nutrition, but how we view food and the ways we sabotage ourselves with food.

Today I want you to be aware of sabotaging thoughts that will keep you from eating healthy and keeping you from doing what you want to look the way you do. What are sabotaging thoughts?
  • I already had a piece of chocolate, I might as well finish off the rest of them
  • It's not fair that other people can eat whatever they want and still be thin and I can't eat hardly anything and I'm still not thin
  • I've already messed up my diet for today so I'll start eating good tomorrow
  • That cake/cookie/ice cream/candy looks so good. I know I'm already full and shouldn't eat it but it looks so good
  • I'm stuffed but I really want to finish the rest of this plate because it tastes so good
Some of you may not think this way, but if you pay attention when food is around, some of you might be thinking these things. The question is, "How to I get over thinking this way?" This might sound cheesy but it's been suggested by several doctors in nutrition.
  • Write down on a 3x5 card why you want to lose weight and why it's worth it to you. For example, I will be less self-conscious, I will be able to wear the clothes that I want to wear, I will be more excited to go shopping, My clothes will fit the way they should, I will feel more confident in the gym, etc...
So every time you think one of these sabotaging thoughts or don't want to go to the gym as planned, pull out this card and remind yourself that it's more worth it to eat healthy and well.
