When was the last time you took a spin class? Or have you never taken a spin class because your butt hurt too bad the next day? Or are you afraid because you feel that you're not in the best shape right now?
I have tons of people asking me if they could do spinning, even though they aren't in great cardiovascular shape right now. I tell them, Go ahead! Go! The great thing about spinning is even though there is an instructor telling you what to do, you can always go at your own pace. If the instructor says, turn the knob and your legs are already burning, there's nothing wrong with not turning the knob. Go at your own pace.
There's nothing I can really do about the bikes hurting your butt! But I do have to say I just got used to it!
I love spinning because...
- it's a perfect cross-training day to work out other muscles in my legs instead of running all the time
- take this past Monday for example: I didn't feel like running or working out for that matter, but I knew I needed to. So I went to a cycling class where someone else would push me, because I knew I wasn't in the mood to push myself. On a day when I'm feeling that lethargic, it's a smart investment to go to a class and know in the end I got a great workout, instead of wandering around for an hour with 100 calories to show for it
- there's always so much energy in the room with the people, instructor, and music, that the excitement to workout is contagious and hard to resist
- you don't have to watch where you're going like you do when you're running, so sometimes it's almost peaceful (even though an instructor is yelling at you and the music is blaring) but you can let your thoughts flow and let off some pressure or stress
- there's nothing like ending the hour class, looking down at your watch, and seeing '600 calories' on your watch. It feels good. Totally worth it
- knowing I'll go home and have a healthy dinner to not undo what I just did.
