The Gym of Doom

It's summer and we've been on vacation and playing around. But now school has started and we're ready for our normal routine...right?

It's hard to head back to the gym and be "hardcore" when it's been play time for so long. So how can we drag our feet back? Here's some motivational things you can tell yourself, because I know I needed a little push to get there myself.

  1. Tell yourself you love it- you might think that's cheesy or say 'but I don't love it'. Think again. You might not like going to the gym itself, or even being there the whole time, but when you're finished you feel great! Not only immediately, but think at the end of the month and all the times you've been to the gym. How great are you going to feel when you've improved your overall fitness level. So ask yourself again, do you like going to the gym? Oh yeah!
  2. Swith it up- I wouldn't want to go to the gym if EVERYTIME I did the exact same thing. On your strength days, (you do have strength days, right? :) let's say it's 3 times a week, make one with weights, one with resistance bands, and one with body weight. For your cardio days do the treadmill or run a long run one day and sprints another, do stairs another day, and take a scenery walk another day. If you're doing something different you'll feel different about going to work out.
  3. You're paying for it- money is such a great motivator! Think that you're buying your fitness with your gym membership instead of paying for some diet pills that only do harm to you. Or that you're buying your fitness and if you're not going to the gym, you're just wasting that money.
  4. Buy a cute workout shirt- This might sound vain, but sometimes if you like what you're wearing you're more likely to put it on and get to the gym!
  5. JUST GO- Don't think about it, do question yourself or ask yourself if you want to go. Just go. Get in the car and drive over there. You'll find once you're there, you're in a good spot. You won't regret it. Just go!
