Run and Jump Rope Combo


 This is great for an outside run.  Pick a land mark that you will see often.  The easiest for me is a street lamp because that's where I run.  You can choose every 10th tree if you're running on a trail, or every 5th house, or every 20 seconds, etc. 

Run with your jump rope in hand until you reach your landmark or time limit.  Stop at the landmark and jump rope for 1 minute.  Jog for a minute to get your heart rate back down, then when you reach the next landmark once your heart rate is normal (you can tell if your breathing is normal) jump rope for 2 minutes.  Continue to alternate between running and jumping until you can work your way to jump roping for 5 minutes, and then work your way back down to jumping for 1 minute.  Run for 5 minutes to cool down.


I love these kind of workouts because I'm always doing something different and jump roping has killer effects on your abs.
