Colorful Diet
When you look at your plate to eat is it full of bright colors? I'm sure you've all heard that the brighter your fruits and vegetables the healthier they are for you. Here are a few ideas, besides the obvious, from Fitness Magazine on how to add color to your diet:
RED: Add red chili peppers or red bell peppers to scrambled eggs, puree a handful of strawberries and add it to a breakfast drink or hot cereal
ORANGE: Mash or bake sweet potatoes, add mango to your salad
YELLOW: Put yellow bell peppers in stir-fry, or layer them on a turkey sandwich, make a salad of pineapple, red onion, and mint, or grill pineapple rings for a turkey burger topping, enjoy a corn on the cob
GREEN: Cut up pears and put honey on them for a treat, drizzle sliced avocado with lime juice, brush with olive oil, and grill; then season with salt
PURPLE/BLUE: Put slices of plum on your toast instead of jelly, puree blueberries or plums and put them in ice trays to use for drinks or popcicles, mix blueberries into rice crispy treats, keep raisins handy when you're craving something sweet
